Project Title: The Met Gala Look for Gossip Girl
Year: 2022
Medium: Custom upcycled workwear
In a special collaboration with the costume department of the Gossip Girl reboot, we were commissioned to create a custom Met Gala look for Evan Mock's character in Season 2. The project's brief was to develop a custom piece that blended our signature upcycled aesthetic with the core themes of workwear and streetwear.
The final look centered on a pair of custom-reworked Stan Ray pants. We transformed the classic work pants into a new, oversized silhouette by widening the leg and adding length to emphasize a modern, baggy streetwear fit. The most striking element of the pants was the vibrant patchwork: a bold mix of hot pink and black-and-white checkerboard, a visual nod to the character's frequently dyed hair and a playful subversion of traditional gender expression in workwear.
The outfit was completed with a custom-reworked Stan Ray chore coat, which we cropped and structured to create a tailored yet voluminous shape. To honor the workwear theme, we designed a checkerboard patchwork ascot, a modern take on a classic men's workwear accessory from the early 1900s. The entire look was a complete success, worn on set without any changes and perfectly embodying our creative vision while fitting the character's unique style.
